02-10-2016Blair Park Board Meeting Minutes February 10, 2016 The February 10,2016 meeting of the Blair Park Board was called to order by Chairperson Neil Jensen. Present were members Neil Jensen, Roger Petersen, Jeene Hobbs, Steve Tonn and Pat Long, Parks Superintendent and Steve Stodola, Blair Optimist Club. Old Business Pat Long, Parks Dept. Superintendent reported he will try to get on the City Council's Feb. 23rd meeting agenda to ask for approval to put out for bids the Lions Park Playground project. The City will enter into a contract with HGM for design and contract work for alternative proposals for the Lions Park restrooms. A different design is needed in order to better match the Depot. HGM wants to meet with the Park Board sub -committee and a representative from the Depot Restoration Committee in regards to the restroom design. Tentative starting time for the restroom construction would be July/August and to be finished this fiscal year. The City of Blair has received a double grant from the Papio Missouri River NRD for tree plantings. The 24 trees from the grant plus the 10 trees from Cargill makes a total of 34 trees. The City's cost for the planting will be approximately $200. New Business The Arbor Day tree planting event will be April 29. The Park Board selected Steyer Park for the 4 tree plantings. Neil Jensen will contact Amy Rogers, School Principal, to determine which second grade class will assist with the planting. Steve Stodola, Blair Optimist Club, shared with the Board the Club's desire to reestablish the park sign for Optimist Park. The City will salvage the existing sign and repair it for re- installation. The City's cost should be approximately $150. By consensus it was agreed to postpone elections until next meeting when more Board members may be present.
