2016-06RESOLUTION NO. 2016- 6 COUNCILMEMBER STEWART INTRODUCED THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BLAIR, NEBRASKA, AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, the City of Blair has determined that it is necessary to clarify the adopted speed limits on specific Streets within the City of Blair; and WHEREAS, the City has completed the new connector trail to Optimist Park extending from 10th Street on Jackson Street, Blaine Street, and Fairview Drive and providing access to Blair High School, Otte Middle School, and the youth athletic complex; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the public to establish reasonable speed limits for the protection of the public. SECTION 1. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BLAIR, NEBRASKA that the City of Blair deems it prudent and advisable to establish the speed limit at 25 miles per hour on Jackson Street, Blaine Street, and Fairview Drive extending from the intersection of Tenth Street to Optimist Park. . SECTION 2. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall repeal all and/or any previous resolution in conflict with this resolution. COUNCIL MEMBER STEWART MOVED THAT THE RESOLUTION BE ADOPTED AS READ, WHICH SAID MOTION WAS SECONDED BY COUNCIL MEMBER ANDERSEN. UPON ROLL CALL, COUNCIL MEMBERS SHEPARD, STEWART, HANSEN, WILLIS, WOLFF, ANDERSEN, JENSEN AND HALL VOTING "AYE", AND COUNCIL MEMBERS NONE VOTING "NAY", THE MAYOR DECLARED THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 12TH DAY OF JANUARY, 2016.
