For your information, we have enclosed a copy of a NebGuide published by the Cooperative
Extension Service, Institute of Agriculture and Natural resources of the University of Nebraska-
Lincoln, entitled Residential Onsite Wastewater Treatments Septic Tank and Drafnfleld
` tenance.
This publication outlines important Information concerning the proper use and maintenance of septic
tanke and absorption fields. As the pubfication indicates, It Is critical that the tank be intpeoted
periodically and pumped when excessive aolids accumulate so thatthe absorption field can function
properly. Misuse of the system orfallure to properly maintain the system can result In system failure
and the need to replace the absorption field.
We suggestthat this Information be made available to all system users to help emphasize the need
for responsible use of the system and to Inform them that maintenance Is orltical for the proper
operation of the onsite sewage treatment system,
