Dear Property Owner:
This is a courtesy letter to notify you that we have received a complaint regarding the keeping
chickens without a permit and the keeping of a rooster, which is prohibited by the Blair Municipal j
Code, on your property located at the above address. Please review the photos. This is a
violation of the following municipal codes:

Code Description
06-202.1 (A) FOWL, CONTROLLED WITHIN MUNICIPALITY; PERMIT PROCESS.
Except as permitted by subsection E of this section, it shall be unlawful for
any person, corporation, firm, or other entity, in the capacity of owner
occupant, lessee, mortgagee, or agent thereof, to keep or maintain, within
the corporate limits of Blair, Nebraska, any chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys,
pheasants, quail, ostrich, or other fowl except such fowl as are within the
said corporate limits temporarily for exhibition purposes and are kept in
sanitary and enclosed areas at least one hundred fifty (150) feet from any
habitable structure owned by any person or business.
06-202.1 (E)(7b) No person shall keep any rooster.
Three (3) days after receipt of this "courtesy" notice, the above property will be inspected to
assure the rooster violation has been removed. If you wish to apply for a hen chicken permit,
please contact me for detailed instructions. I have also included a copy of the city's code
pertaining to hen chickens. Subsection E refers to the permitting process.
If, following the inspection, it is determined that the violation still exists, you will receive a formal
notice to correct/ remove the violation within five (5) days of the date of the formal notice as per
city code. If an extension is needed for additional time to comply with this request, please
contact City Hall at (402) 426-4191.
