08-12-2015Blair Park Board Meeting Minutes August 12, 2015 Present were board members Neil Jensen, Ardee Pounds, Jeene Hobbs, Roger Petersen, Steve Tonn and Pat Long, Parks Superintendent. Neil Jensen, board chairperson, called the meeting to order. Jeene Hobbs moved the minutes be approved as mailed. Ardee Pounds seconded the motion. Motion carried. Bills totaling $6,010 were presented for approval. The bills were for tree removal. Ardee Pounds moved the bills be approved. The motion was seconded by Jeene Hobbs. Motion carried. Old Business Pat Long reported that six benches were installed along Cauble Creek trail. Memorial Community Hospital Foundation thank you plaques will be placed along the trail. Jeene Hobbs asked about the tennis courts. Pat Long said that a few details must be completed before final approval of the job. The tennis court resurfacing should last for 6 -8 years. Jeene Hobbs asked about progress on moving the horse shoe pits at Lions Park. The upper playground at Steyer Park has been taken out. Double slide from Steyer Park will be moved to Lions Park in the future. By mid November the Lions Park horse shoe pit should be relocated to Steyer Park. The Lions Club will provide some funds to help with improvements at Lions Parr. Pat Long wants to get the underground electrical lines at Lions Park buried this fall. New Business The City Council approved the bids for the new playground at Rhoades Park at their meeting on August 11, 2015. The new playground will be completed this fall. Consensus of the Board was to use a natural color for the playground surface. Ardee Pounds mentioned she believes her term on the board expires in Dec. 31, 2015.
