The February Meeting of the Blair Park Board was held on February 12, 2014. Present were
board members Roger Petersen, Ardee Pounds, Jeene Hobbs, Steve Tonn and Park
Superintendent Pat Long. Jeene Hobbs, vice chairperson, called the meeting to order.
Jeene Hobbs and Steve Tonn volunteered to serve as representatives from the Park Board on the
Master Park Plan Committee. Roger Petersen will serve as an alternate if needed.
It was a consensus of the members present to delay election of officers until the next meeting.
Pat Long reported that the Arbor Day tree planting will be done at Veterans Field. Red maple,
Crimson maple, English Oak trees will be planted. Pat will contact Black Hills Energy for
possible funding. Planting will be done on Arbor Day.
Pat Long has submitted two grant proposals to the Papio NRD for funding tree plantings in

Optimist Park 17 trees; Stem m erman Park 2 trees; Steyer Park 5 trees; and Rhoades Park
–
3 trees. N ew trash cans have been purchased for the parks with grant funding and donated
funds. Ardee Pounds asked if we can inform the public about donating to sponsor benches, etc.
in the parks. Pat will try to include that on the parks web site. Park photos on the web site need
to be updated. Pat Long said that the bathroom doors will be replaced at the Cemet e y, Black
Elk Niehardt Park and the RV Park.
Ardee Pounds moved the meeting be adjourned. Seconded by Roger Petersen. Motion carried.
Meeting adjourned.
