Dear Mr. Kermoade:
I
Thank you for recently mowing so promptly. However, the City of Blair has received complaints
about junk and debris around your home. This is a courtesy letter to notify you that the
complaints are regarding on your property located at the above address. Please see the
enclosed photos. While I understand that a homeowner should be able to do whatever they
want with their property, they also have to follow the laws set by their local government. In this
case, the junk and debris are a violation of the following municipal codes:
Code Description
04 -506 NUISANCES; WEEDS, GRASSES, AND WORTHLESS VEGETATION; LITTER. In
addition to the definitions as provided in Sections 4 -501 to 4 -505 inclusive, a
nuisance is hereby declared to be and defined as permitting, allowing, or maintaining
any growth of twelve inches or more in height of weeds, grasses, or worthless
vegetation, or to litter or cause litter to be deposited or remain on any premises in the
municipality except in proper receptacles.
06 -333 MISDEMEANORS; JUNK ACCUMULATIONS. It shall be unlawful for any property
owner or lessee to allow an accumulation of junk on property that is located within the
corporate limits to the extent that such accumulation is a potential hazard to the
health and safety of the residents of the Municipality. Junk shall mean old scrap,
copper, brass, iron, steel, rope, rags, batteries, paper, trash, rubber debris, waste,
motor vehicles or recreational equipment of any kind including, but not limited to,
motorcycles, all terrain vehicles, automobiles, trucks, boats and trailers which are
dismantled, unlicensed or unregistered in violation of Chapter 60, Article 3 R.R.S.
Nebraska (as amended from time to time), abandoned, inoperable, or wrecked
automobiles, or parts thereof, wood, limbs, vegetation, and other old or scrap ferrous
or nonferrous material.
Again, please review the photos.
Three (3) days after receipt of this "courtesy" notice, the above property will be inspected to
assure the violation has been corrected / removed. If, following the inspection, it is determined
that the violation still exists, you will receive a formal notice to correct / remove the violation
within five (5) days of the date of the formal notice as per city code. If an extension is needed for
additional time to comply with this request, please contact City Hall at (402) 426 -4191.
