Dear Property Owner:
This is a courtesy letter to notify you that we have received a complaint regarding weeds and
shrubs hanging into the right -of -way (ROW) at the rear of your lot and tall weeds throughout
your property located at the above address (please see the enclosed photos). This is a violation
of the following municipal codes:
Code Description
04 -506 NUISANCES; WEEDS, GRASSES, AND WORTHLESS VEGETATION; LITTER.
In addition to the definitions as provided in Sections 4 -501 to 4 -505 inclusive, a
nuisance is hereby declared to be and defined as permitting, allowing, or
maintaining any growth of twelve inches or more in height of weeds, grasses, or
worthless vegetation, or to litter or cause litter to be deposited or remain on any
premises in the municipality except in proper receptacles.
08 -105 (A) MUNICIPAL PROPERTY AND RIGHT OF WAY; OBSTRUCTIONS Trees,
Shrubs and Other Vegetation: Trees, shrubs, and other vegetation growing
upon or near the lot line or upon public ground and interfering with the use and
construction of any public improvements, including sidewalks and streets, shall
be deemed an obstruction under this Article. The roots, branches or other
portion of such trees, shrubs or other vegetation deemed to be an obstruction by
the City Administrator or the Director of Public Works may be removed by the
City of Blair at the expense of the owner of the property upon which the tree,
shrub or other vegetation is located should the owner fail or neglect, after written
notice, to do so.
i
Three (3) days after receipt of this "courtesy" notice, the above property will be inspected to
assure the violation has been corrected / removed. If, following the inspection, it is determined
that the violation still exists, you will receive a formal notice to correct / remove the violation
within five (5) days of the date of the formal notice as per city code.
i
I noticed that you have many plants that are not considered "weeds" or "worthless vegetation ",
which you can make an argument for keeping, however, it seems there are many weeds
interspersed with these plants. Also: If you could also trim trees and shrubs encroaching into the
city's parking lot, that would ensure their health as if the city trims back the trees and shrubs
they will cut back as far as possible.
If an extension is needed for additional time to comply with this request or you would like to
