Civil Solutions, LLC completed a sight review of the above - referenced property on Friday, April
24, 2015. It is our understanding that the City of Blair is concerned with the closeness of the
earthen slope on the back side of the house. In particular, the City is concerned with the possible
impact on the house foundation.
It is our professional opinion that this earthen bank poses no risk to the foundation of this building.
The house does not have a basement and the footings are shallow. The greatest risk is due to
possible slope failure from erosion. The builder has seeded the slope and installed coconut fiber
erosion control blankets. There is some vegetation growth on the slope, but it is important to make
sure there is 100% vegetation cover from the toe of the slope to the top of the bank where it meets
existing ground cover. It appears that there is still an area near the top of the bank that needs to be
graded, seeded, and erosion control blanket placed on it. As long as positive drainage is maintained
around the house and the slope is monitored for erosion and corrected as necessary, the foundation
should not be affected.
