I understand that there were a few minor field adjustments made during construction of the
retaining walls. The following consists of my review of these field adjustments:
1) I understand that the downspouts were not joined into a
single pipe as schematically depicted on the drawings. Instead, the north downspout was run
under the upper wall and run to the north side of the lower wall and daylighted on the slope
well in front of the wall. The schematic depiction in the drawings was not intended as a
literal requirement, but was presented as a way to prevent roof runoff from being dumped
above the walls. So long as the downspouts are discharged to an area in front of the
retaining walls, the location is acceptable with respect to stability of the wall system.
2) I understand that a fence is not required for the wall so no
fence sleeves were installed. The fence sleeves are not part of the structural system of the
wall, but were only shown to accommodate installation of the fence posts. if no fence is
required, then no sleeves are required.
3) I understand that the drain tile for the upper wall was not
connected to the drain for the lower wall. Instead, the drain tile was daylighted in front
of the upper wall. Given the minimal amount of water expected from the drain tile, the
location of this outlet above the lower wall is not a concern.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
