The Honorable Michael A. Mines
Mayor of the City of Blair
218 South 16th Street
Blair, NE 68008
Dear Mayor Mines:
Congratulations to Blair on being named as a 2001
Tree City USA!
More than ever, today we understand the importance of
trees to our cities and towns. Trees help clean our air
and water, moderate heat and cold, and bring warmth and
grace to our homes.
Tree City USA recognizes communities that have proven
their commitment to an effective, ongoing community
forestry program. Such a program is one marked by renewal
and improvement.
Tree City USA is sponsored in cooperation with the
National Association of State Foresters and the USDA
Forest Service. State foresters are responsible for the
presentation of the Tree City USA flag and other
materials. We will forward your awards to David Mooter in
your state forester's office. They will be coordinating
the presentation with you. It would be especially
appropriate to make the Tree City USA award a part of your
Arbor Day ceremony.
Again, congratulations on receiving this national
recognition for your tree -care program.
B ards,
FhnRosenow
President
