11-08-2006Respectfully submitted, (° Aim George, Secretary Blair Park Board Meeting November 8, 2006 Roll Call The Blair Park Board met at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, in the City Hall Conference Room. Members present: Neil Jensen, president; Kathy Kuster, vice president; Ann George, secretary; Roger Petersen, Jim Peterson, Ardee Pounds. Blair Parks Department: Pat Long. Reading and Approval of September 13, 2006, Minutes Ardee Pounds's motion to approve the minutes of the September 13 meeting was seconded by Kathy Kuster and carried. Approval of Bills /Old Business Approval of pad paving at pool (under the bleachers), Pat Long reported that the area under the bleachers at the swimming pool had been paved. Jim Peterson's motion to approve a $400 bill for that work was seconded by Roger Petersen and carried. New Business Discussion of new shelter at Lions Park. Members discussed replacing the deteriorating picnic shelter at the southeast comer of Lions Park with a larger one. It was recommended that the shelter also have one or two electric outlets. Discussion of tipi shelter at Black Elk Neihardt Park A general discussion about a tipi shelter focused on its location and appearance, with a reference to the shelter at Blackbird Hill south of Macy. Playground equipment at Stever Park. Before the official start of the meeting, those present talked about replacing the old horse swing at Steyer Park, and the suggestion was made that it be auctioned off next summer at the annual Jazz in the Park. Location of park directional sign on South Highway 30. Members agreed that the present location of the directional sign for Steyer Park on the east side of South Highway 30 is confusing. They recommended that it be moved to more accurately indicate the correct turnoff to the park. All present agreed not to meet in December and January. The Board will next meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14, in the City Hall Conference Room. Kathy Kuster moved to adjourn, and Jim Peterson seconded her motion. The motion was carried.
