Specs for 16' x 12' deck
1. The deck is to be installed to the rear of the existing house on 1458 Butler St.
2. The deck is to be anchored to the ground by six (6) treated 4 x 4 posts. The posts are to be set at a depth
of no less than 42" and secured in concrete. The posts are to be attached to the frame of the deck with
5/16 x 9" carriage bolts
3. The undercarriage of deck shall be all pressure treated lumber. The main support beams coming off the
post shall be 2" x 8" and the joists shall be 2" x 6" set every 16 ". A double 2" x 8" treated board shall be
used to attach deck to existing. This double 2" x 8" shall be attached to existing with 5/16" x 9" lag bolts.
All 2" x 6" joists shall be secured to double 2" x 8" with steel joist hangers. Appropriate flashing shall be
installed to accommodate existing siding.
4. The deck flooring shall be 2" x 6" cedar.
5. The deck will have two (2) single step (see print)
6. The decks flooring perimeter shall have bench style seating installed constructed in cedar (see print).
This bench style seating shall be a permanent part of the structure.
7. The finished grade shall be less than 12"
8. All screws and nails shall be weather resistant and exterior grade.
