Roll Call
Members of the Blair Park Board met at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, in the City Hall
Council Chambers. Members present: Neil Jensen, president; Jeene Hobbs, vice
president; Ann George, secretary; Roger Petersen, Ardee Pounds. Blair Park
Department: Pat Long. Not present: Steve Tonn
Reading and Approval of May 11, 2011, Minutes
Jeene Hobbs's motion to approve the minutes of the May 11 meeting was seconded by
Ardee Pounds and carried.
Approval of Bills
There were no bills needing approval.
Park Deportment's preparations for Gateway to the West and Triple Crown haseholl
games. In a general discussion, Pat Long described the Park Department's participation in
preparing for Blair's annual celebration, Gateway to the West, and for the All -Star Triple
Crown baseball games. He told Board members that new playground equipment will be
installed after these events.
Park Board participation on planning committees affecting Park Department. After
discussion, Ardee Pounds made a motion, seconded by Jeene Hobbs, that the Board
send a letter to the Mayor, City Manager, and City Council with a request that a Park
Board member or members be included on the trail committee, Lions Park depot
committee, and any other future committees concerned with projects whose
maintenance will ultimately become the responsibility of the Park Department. The
motion was carried. (Secretary Ann George will draft a letter for Park Board members to
review at the next meeting.)
Friends of the Arboretum will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15.
The Park Board will next meet on July 13 at 7 p.m. at the City Council Chambers.
The meeting was adjourned.
