STATEMENT OF SPECIAL INSPECTIONS
Special inspections shall be conducted by John Haggerty of Zachry Engineering.
Inspection reports will be submitted to Zachry Engineering, NatureWorks and City of
Blair, Building Department. Zachry Engineering proposes the following special
inspections to be conducted.
Concrete Construction:
1. Inspection of reinforcing steel: - Steel reinforcement shall be inspected by
Zachry Engineering prior to placement of concrete to verify the size and
placement of the steel is in accordance with approved for construction drawings.
2. Anchor Rod inspection: - Steel anchor rods shall be inspected by Zachry
Engineering prior to placement of concrete to verify the size and placement of
rods is in accordance with approved construction drawings.
3. Verify use of required design mix: - Concrete mix design has been submitted to
Zachry Engineering, and is attached as Appendix B to this request for
application.
4. Inspection of formwork: Formwork shall be inspected by Zachry Engineering for
shape, location and dimensions to verify they are in compliance with approved
for construction drawings.
Steel Construction:
1. Structural steel fabrication: - Shop drawings shall be supplied to and approved
by Zachry engineering prior to the start of fabrication.
2. Material verification of high- strength bolts, nuts and washers: - Periodic
inspections shall be conducted to verify the markings on bolts indicate
conformance with ASTM standards.
3. Inspection of high- strength bolting: - Periodic inspections shall be conducted to
verify bearing -type connections are in compliance with approved construction
documents.
4. Inspection of field welds: - Field welds shall be visually inspected by Zachry
Engineering.
5. Inspection of steel frame joint details: - Member connections, bracing and
stiffening details and member locations shall be visually inspected by Zachry
Engineering to ensure they are in compliance with approved construction
documents,
Natureworks LLC and Zachry Engineering have an agreement that John Haggerty shall
act as the owners representative, project manager and special inspections inspector for
the duration of this project. Should there be any questions as to these inspections; the
engineer of record, George B. Little, P.E. will be contacted regarding the issue. When a
resolution is achieved it will be communicated to Natureworks, and the City of Blair,
Building Department.
