RE: Obstruction of Fire Hydrant
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Miller,
It has been brought to our attention that you have planted a flower or bush surrounding the
fire hydrant located on city right of way in the front of your property (see enclosed
picture).
This planting is a violation of the Blair Municipal Code in Chapter 7, Section 7 -104 that
states it is unlawful for any person to obstruct the use of a fire hydrant or place or have
placed any material within (15) feet of the hydrant. Enclosed is a copy of the code for
your reference.
Please remove the planting from the fire hydrant so that the hydrant is in plain view and
clear of any obstruction in the event the fire hydrant is needed for its intended use of
public safety. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter and request you resolve this
issue by Tuesday, October 5, 2010.
