Feb. 4, l988
Meeting was called to order by Pre..ident Marilyn Gentry. Members present
were Ralph ;Meyer, Roger hohensee, George Filson, Marilyn Gentry, and
Judy Sick. Absent was Gene Solomon.
Minutes of the January 7, me..7ting were read and approved as corrected.
Old Business: Ralph reported that Gene Solomon has several ever green
trees that he would be willing to let the park board have for park
planting at the price they cost him.
Roger Hohensee moved and Judy Sick seconded the motion that the park
board pay Gene 485 for the trees, the money to come from the special
tree fund. Motion carried.
The board discussed the possibility of having Doug Bullock attend the
March meeting. Roger Hohensee was appointed to contact Doug.
Ralph asked, "What is to be done about the Rose Garden ? ". Problems and
possible solutions were discussed. No definite action was taken.
New Business: Discussion was held as to what should be done about the
space where the two Junipers were cut down in Black Elk -Neiha rdt Park.
Because of the cost of trees of a comparable size to the two remaining
trees, the best solution seems to be to transpalnt the two remining
trees to a new location and start four new smalled trees.

Judy Sick moved that the board purchase eight new six foot picnic tables
and a branding iron. Seconded by Roger Hohensee. Motion carried.
George was appointed to get information about a branding iron.
Ralph reported that he has applied to Ames, Iowa, for several trees as
test materials. There is no cost to the Park Board.
The Board reviewed and completed the application to the Nebraska Game
and Parks Commission on Nebraska Nongame Wildlife Cooperative Conservation
Program. It was suggested that other organizations in Blair may want
to contribute time or funds to the project.
