Respectfully submitted,
Bill Trisdale
Park Board Secretary
BLAIR PARK BOARD
Minutes Of October 1, 1992
•
The meeting of the Blair Park Board was called to order at 7:35 p.m. Board members present were: Bob
Leonard, George Wilson, Jim Peterson and Bill Trisdale. Park Curator Ralph Steyer was also present.
The previous meeting minutes were accepted with no changes.
A check to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture for inspection fees was approved. Ralph Steyer
reported a sum of $ 984.32 was in the Arboretum fund. He also gave a brief report on the park tour of
September 25, 1992 by out of town guests. Your Park Board Secretary thoroughly enjoyed his first good
look at the diverse material in the park and also complimented Ralph on the excellent job he was doing
with the mosquito population. They were fierce!!
Another discussion was held on the map and brochure project; 100:1 maps are needed for this project
to be successful. Gene Solomon volunteered to contact the ASCS Office in an effort to obtain these.
An effort to aggressively pursue this project should and will be made to complete this endeavor.
Bill Trisdale, secretary, wrote a letter to the editor in an effort to find volunteers for the arboretum, but
as of today November 2 he has had no calls or letters from his efforts. There is a small group of people
who have expressed an interest, and perhaps we need to have a meeting with them to discuss our needs.
The R. V. Park still has some obstacles in its way at this time.
The Blair Rotary club will mulch the walking trails on October 17th.
•Boat Ramp plans are still on hold.
The slide is still at its present location. It perhaps could be moved farther South of that location and
mounted closer to the ground.
Rod Stork, our City Administrator, did not attend our meeting as expected and our Park Superintendent
still does not come to our meetings. Just what it will take to get them involved is not clear. it is
becoming quite evident that something needs to be done to correct this as it sometimes leaves us in a fog
about what is and what is not being done.
Cooking grills were discussed, but not enough information was available to reach any conclusion.
Peterson and Solomon were appointed to secure the needed information.
Solomon and Gentry were appointed by a vote of the Board to find out what is needed for playground
equipment.
Pat Long requested some trees from the nursery, but an inventory needs to be done before we can
answer his request. The city comes first, the R. V. Park will need trees, so his request was placed on
hold.
There is also an effort being made to acquire our nursery site for parking of cars at the sports complex.
Feed back from Stork and Stricklett on this subject is needed before we can make a decision on same.
One more reason their attendance is needed from time to time.
