06-04-1992• BLAIR PARK BOARD MINUTES June 4, 1992 The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Bob Leonard, President; with board members Marilyn Gentry, George Wilson, and Bill Trisdale. Ralph Steyer was also in attendance. It was moved that the minutes of the May 7th meeting be accepted as printed. Motion carried. An erosion problem at Black Elk Park was discussed. Bill Trisdale contacted Warren Whitaker about it. It will be taken care of when an automatic air valve is installed to control the water level in the reservoir. No positive date was set. The R. V. park is getting some construction activity. Guesstimated cost is somewhere between $30,000 to $40,000 at this time. No completion date is in sight. The Park Board is concerned with the water drainage problem at the R. V. site, we will keep monitoring the situation. Playground equipment was discussed. A spiral slide was mentioned with details as listed: 7 ft. slide - $2,828.00, Assembled 9'9" slide - $3,170.00, Assembled 12'6" slide - $4,994.00, Assembled Shipping Cost: $250.00 each Sources: Ely Churchich 8715 Raven Oaks Drive Omaha, NE 68152 Phone: 571 -7492 Ann Kutilek 6945 Grover Street Omaha, NE 68106 Phone: 393 -4531 A merry -go -round was also touched on briefly. No action was taken at this time. Picnic tables have been requested at Black Elk Park. This will be passed on to Dale. It was pointed out by Ralph Steyer that there are dead trees along the entrances to the city. The city forester need to be contacted regarding this. The Board feels we need publicity about the trees being planted, from the nursery, in locations throughout the city. President Leonard will take responsibility for this. The action was made official by a motion from George Wilson, seconded by Marilyn Gentry. Motion carried. A report was presented by President Leonard about a graphics program being worked • with by Bob Limbach and his students, involving Vets Field. This shows promise toward developing our park maps and brochures. It could possible be done by these same students as a school project. Wilson assumes responsibility for contacting Limbach. o • The Board wants an update on playground equipment including horse shoe pits, etc. Trisdale will discuss this with Dale. Wood chip trails were discussed. They are not too well liked by some. Blacktop was touched on, with estimates needed from Dale or Rod. Motion made by Marilyn Gentry, seconded by Bill Trisdale. Motion carried. A discussion about the "Tree of the Month" was held with no action at this time. The final item discussed was regarding rules and regulations for the R. V. park. They were as follows: Tents - $3.00 per night Vehicles - $5.00 per night Limit - 5 days - unless emergency, may be extended Vehicles Must Stay on Hard Surfaces Quiet Hours - 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Pets must be on a leash and under control at all times. Also animal residue must be picked up and put in refuse containers. The above is a tentative set of rules and may be added to or deleted from at the discretion of the Park Board. There being no further business, a move was made to adjourn by Wilson, second by Trisdale. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m. Secretary Bill Trisdale
