05-07-1992BLAIR PARK BOARD MINUTES May 7, 1992 The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. with Vice - President Jim Peterson presiding. Other members present were: Marilyn Gentry, George Wilson, and Bill Trisdale. Ralph Steyer was present also. Ralph Steyer gave a brief report on the arboretum. The City is finally planting trees from the nursery, starting with Little Leaf Lindens being planted at the Parkview Manor. Minutes from the last meeting were accepted as read. No action was taken on bills at this time. Arbor Day activities included an Autumn Blaze Maple being planted at Rhoades Park. Guests were the Blair Chamber Ambassadors. A discussion was held about what direction the Board is headed. It was decided that goals need to be established, old programs reviewed, and new programs considered. Several committees were set up. Tree Planting: Bob Leonard, Ralph Steyer and Gene Solomon Brochures: Jim Peterson and Bill Trisdale Job Description: Marilyn Gentry and Bill Trisdale, with Dale Stricklett as an advisor Work Equipment: Jim Peterson and George Wilson Dale needs access to a 4 -wheel drive pick -up on a part -time basis. He also needs a back -pack blower. Motion to purchase same was made by Bill Trisdale, seconded by George Wilson. Motion carried. Slides were also discussed. A spiral slide may be cost prohibitive at this time. Dale was to be contacted by Bill Trisdale about moving the big slide to a safer location. Motion to do so made by Marilyn Gentry, seconded by George Wilson. Motion carried. Landscaping evaluation was discussed, along with creating a map of same. No positive action on this at this time. It is a living thing that changes from time to time and is difficult to pin down. Erosion at Black Elk Park was brought to the Board's attention. It involves the overflow on the reservoir. Trisdale was to visit with Warren Whittaker and Rodney Storm about what needs to be done to solve the problem. Regulations for the R.V. park were discussed as to what to charge. No less than $3.00 nor more than $5.00 per night with a limit of five nights was suggested. Pets must be secured with a leash. Wilson will report on progress at the next meeting.
