Blair Park Board Meeting January 13, 1999 The January meeting of the Blair Park Board was called to order by President Kathy Kuster at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 1999. The meeting was held at the City Hall. Those present included Kathy Kuster, Bobbie Cade, Ann George and Neil Jensen. Absent: Jim Peterson and Donna Mahlendorf Pat Long, the superintendent of the Blair Parks, was present as were Kus Kuster, Jenny Warrick, Merna Brown, Judy Seaver and Tom Jackson. A motion was made by Bobbie Cady, seconded by Ann George, to amend the agenda to read "Reading and approval of the minutes of the December 9 meeting." Amendment was approved. A motion was made by Neil Jensen, seconded by Bobbie Cade, to accept the minutes of the December 9 meeting of the Park Board, as amended. Motion was approved. Pat Long discussed costs to build a 16' by 16' shelter at Black Elk next to the playground area. Cost ranged from $2000 to $3500. The lessor cost is based on park staff and /or volunteers assisting with the construction. The proposed size of the shelter would hold two picnic tables. Neil Jensen indicated that FOA submitted a grant application to NSA for tree labels, park ID sign and hard surface trail at Steyer Park. Keno was suggested as an additional source of revenue to fund the project. Officers for 1999 were elected. Kathy Kuster was nominated for President by Ann George. Bobbie Cady moved that nomination cease and Kathy Kuster be elected President. Seconded by Neil Jensen. Motion was approved. Jim Peterson was nominated for Vice President by Neil Jensen. Bobbie Cady moved that nomination cease and Jim Peterson be elected Vice President. Seconded by Neil Jensen. Motion was approved. Neil Jensen was nominated for Secretary by Ann George. Ann George moved that nomination cease and Neil Jensen be elected Secretary. Seconded by Bobbie Cady. Motion was approved. Pat Long led a discussion on park plans for 1999. Projects included completing Ridgeview Park, construct new rest rooms at Steyer Park, construct an equipment storage building at cemetery and shelter at Black Elk/Neihardt. Bobbie Cady indicated that she has had a request that blue bird houses be installed at Black Elk/Neihardt. Pat Long brought everyone up to date on trail signs. Pat has received one proposal and is waiting for a second. With no further business, President Kathy Kuster adjourned the meeting at 7:55 p.m.. Motion by Ann George, seconded by Bobbie Cady.
