11-08-2000Blair Park Board Meeting • November 8, 2000 • The Blair Park Board met at the City Hall at 7:30 p.m. on November 8, 2000. The meeting was called to order by President Neil Jensen. Other members present were Kathy Kuster, Jim Petersen, and Ann George. Pat Long represented the Blair Parks Department. Kus Kuster were also present. A motion by Jim Petersen to accept the minutes of the October 11, 2000, Park Board meeting was seconded by Kathy Kuster and carried. Old Business No bills were presented. Pat Long reported that the old shop has been vacated and hopes are that it can be torn down this winter. Other projects, he said, include tree identification and "seeing what we can do for next year" concerning blacktopping at the Steyer Park and Black Elk - Neihardt Park.. He explained that the reason grant applications for trails in the parks had been put on hold is because trail planners want to see if the park sidewalks can be tied into the system. A master plan should be ready by spring. New Business Kathy Kuster made the following motion that was seconded by Jim Petersen and carried: "Move that we do not have our December and January meetings because of the holidays, unless there is a pressing need." Members considered projects for 2001. Pat Long said that a new merry -go -round is needed in Lions Park. Two other projects were discussed: 1. Preparing a brochure about the parks, listing the different and unusual varieties of trees and including information about Ralph Steyer and his role in developing the parks. Ann George volunteered to bring an outline to the next meeting. A sign m Steyer Park should also include information about Ralph Steyer. 2. Exploring the feasibility of constructing a tipi -type shelter at Black Elk - Neihardt Park.. A motion to adjourn by Jim Petersen and seconded by Kathy Kuster was carried.
