Blair Park Board Meeting
May 9, 2001
The Blair Park Board met at the City Hall at 7:30 p.m. on May 9, 2001. The meeting was called to order by
President Neil Jensen. Other members present were Kathy Kuster, Jim Petersen, and Ann George. Pat Long
represented the Blair Parks Department. Kus Kuster amd Judy Seaver also attended the meeting.
The minutes of the April 11, 2001, Park Board meeting were approved.
Unfinished Business. No bills were presented. Pat Long reported that the merry-go -round at Lions Park
has been removed and will be replaced with a new one. Tree identification posts might possibly be installed
in June.
New Business.
Pat Long reported that $10,000 has been budgeted for special projects. He discussed proposed work at
Steyer Park (a retaining wall in the valley area) and the RV Park.
Arboretum/Darks brochure. Members reviewed a draft of the brochure by Ann George. Still needed are
(1) a list of trees in Steyer and Black Elk - Neihardt Parks, (2) a photo and biography of Ralph Steyer,
• ( 3 ) a map of Blair showing Arboretum/city park locations, (4) tree photo(s), possibly including one of the
"flagpole" maple along one side of brochure, and (5) for accuracy, determination of whether park visitors
mentioned in the draft were from Taiwan or the People's Republic of China. Neil Jensen will check to see if
he has information relating to numbers 1, 2 (bio), and 5. Ann George will try to locate a map (3), possibly
through HunTel. The photos (4) will be taken by Pat Long when the copy is ready.
The next meeting is scheduled for June 13, 2001, at 7:30 p.m.
