Blair Park Board Meeting
September 11, 2002
Roll Call
The Blair Park Board met on September 11 at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. Members present: Neil Jensen,
president; Kathy Kuster, vice president; Ann George, secretary; Jim Peterson. Blair Parks Department:
Pat Long. Others present: Matt Jensen. Members not present: Donna Mahlendorf, Ardee Pounds.
Jim Peterson's motion that the minutes of the August 14, 2002, Park Board meeting be approved
was seconded by Kathy Kuster. The motion was carried.
Old Business
Brochure Progress. The brochure proof will be sent to the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum for approval.
After that, the board will determine the number of copies needed and consider sources of funding for
printing costs. Ardee Pounds is modifying a map of Blair provided by HunTel for the brochure.
NSA Grafting Pat Long said that an NSA representative will come to Blair to do a graft of the
"flagpole" columnar maple in Steyer Park.
New Business
Eagle Scout Proiect Boy Scout Matt Jensen presented his proposed Eagle Scout project for the Board's
approval. He proposed putting in 60 posts and labels identifying trees in Steyer and Black Elk - Neihardt
Parks. Pat Long said that the Parks Department has some posts and labels that he can use; Matt will buy
additional materials as needed. Kathy Kuster moved that Matt Jensen's project be approved, with
Matt using all of the posts and labels the Parks Department already has and purchasing any
additional needed materials. Her motion was seconded by Jim Peterson and carried.
Report from Arboretum Curator
Curator Neil Jensen said that the NSA invoice for next year is $100, the same as for this year. The annual
dinner and awards banquet is set for November 1. The NSA has asked for nominations for awards
recipients.
Jim Peterson's motion that the meeting be adjourned was seconded by Kathy Kuster and carried.
The next meeting will be held on October 9.
