08-14-2002• • Blair Park Board Meeting August 14, 2002 Roll Call The Blair Park Board met on August 14 at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. Members present: Neil Jensen, president; Kathy Kuster, vice president; Ann George, secretary; Ardee Pounds. Blair Parks Department: Pat Long. Others present: Kus Kuster. Members not present: Donna Mahlendorf, Jim Peterson. Ardee Pounds's motion that the minutes of the July 10, 2002, Park Board meeting be approved was seconded by Kathy Kuster. The motion was carried. Approval of Bills There were no bills needing approval. Old Business Brochure Progress. Participants reviewed a proof of the Arboretum brochure presented by Neil Jensen and made suggestions for additions and changes. Organization Sign (Boy Scout Eagle Proiect). This sign near Burger King identifying various Blair organizations has weeds growing around it. Pat Long has discussed its appearance and the impression it makes with Scout leader Bob Jepsen, who said that improving the area might be a future Eagle Scout project. Proiects at Stever. Black Elk - Neihardt and Lions Parks. Pat Long reported that at Steyer Park a new sidewalk has been laid in the area of the trash containers and at Black Elk - Neihardt Park the sidewalk leading to the cross has been repaired. The Parks Department is also trimming trees at Lions and Black Elk - Neihardt Parks. Neil Jensen said that Boy Scout Troop 232, as its service project for August, helped mulch an area of plantings at Black Elk - Neihardt Park. New Business NSA Graftines. Pat Long plans to get in touch with staff members at the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum to discuss the possibility of their doing grafts of the "flagpole" columnar maple in Steyer Park. Fall Proiects. Pat Long said that the budget is tight until October. The two plastic- coated game tables he ordered have arrived; they've been installed near the swimming pool at Steyer Park. It was suggested that the community be told of these tables through the Blair Enterprise -Pilot Tribune. Pat has also ordered two plastic- coated benches. Kathy Kuster's motion that the meeting be adjourned was seconded by Ardee Pounds and carried. The next meeting will be held on September 11. Respect submitted, Ann George, Secretary
