04-10-2002Blair Park Board Meeting April 10, 2002 S I Call Blair Park Board met at City Hall at 7:30 p.m. on April 10. Members present: Neil Jensen, Kathy Kuster, Jim Peterson, Ardee Pounds, Ann George. Blair Parks Department: Pat Long. Also present: Paul Teager, Bob Teager. Members not present: Donna Mahlendorf Jim Peterson's motion that the minutes of the March 13, 2002, Park Board meeting be approved was seconded by Kathy Kuster. The motion was carried. Approval of Bills Pat Long presented a bill for $3,485 from Pearson's Painting for the painting of the RV park bathrooms and shower areas. A motion by Kathy Kuster that this bill be approved was seconded by Ardee Pounds and carried. Old Business Parks Brochure. Neil Jensen has obtained a photograph of Ralph and Frances Steyer for the brochure. He said that HunTel will send him a map of Blair in several formats by e-mail. Directional Signage for Parks. Pat said that he will get in touch with the State Roads Department for approval of directional signs to city parks. The Department makes the signs. New Signs for Parks. The signs for Steyer, Rhoades, and Black Elk - Neihardt Parks have arrived and will be installed soon. 410v Business Arbor Day Celebration. April 26 at 2 ant_ Black Elk- Neihardt Park. In addition to the Arbor Day observance, there the swinging bench recently installed in memory of Gene Solomon will be dedicated. Edith Solomon will participate. After the dedication, two trees will be planted for Arbor Day. Pat Long presented a list of several trees; members recommended a Northern Red Oak and a Green Mountain Maple. Neil Jensen has contacted West School about participation by a class of grade school students. Presentation of Eagle Scout Project. Boy Scout Paul Teager presented his proposal for an Eagle Scout project, installation of an illuminated flagpole at Optimist Park. Jim Peterson's motion that the project be approved was seconded by Ardee Pounds and carried. Jazz in the Park. Pat Long said that Ja7 in the Park, scheduled for June 14, will return to Steyer Park. Neil Jensen and Jim Peterson offered to give a nature walk in the park before the concert. Members discussed plans to attend the Tree City USA meeting in Lincoln the next day, April 11. Jim Peterson's motion that the meeting be adjourned was seconded by Ardee Pounds and carried. The next meeting is set for May 8. Respectfulll submitted, Ann George, Secretary
