On April 5, 2010, Chip Murrow, State Arborist and Mark Hodson, Public Works
Superintendent inspected the city tree on your right of way, which you had contacted us
about.
Based upon the inspection made by Mr. Murrow, we have determined this tree is healthy
and currently will not be removed. Enclosed is a copy of the letter from Mr. Murrow for
your reference.
Please be advised that Mr. Murrow does recommend the tree have some corrective
maintenance pruning done for the health of this tree. As per city code (copy enclosed), it
is the responsibility of property owners to maintain any trees on their perspective right of
way. Also, if you do desire to have this tree removed at this time, you would need to hire
a tree contractor registered with the City of Blair and cost of removal would be at your
own expense.

Dear Mark,
This letter is in regards to the tree we looked at on April 5sh in Blair. The following assessment
was made from the ground only. A complete assessment was not done.
1317 Park Street, American elm. The elm had a wound on the side facing the street, but the heart
wood was solid and cambium was working to cover the wound. The crown showed signs of
storm damage, but from the ground, there was nothing I observed that made this tree designated
for removal. I would recommend some corrective maintenance pruning done for the health of
the tree.

Now that mark gave you the letter from the state arborist please develop a letter under my signature to the property
owner stating that the city will not be doing anything with the tree at this time and that if they want to still have the tree
removed it will be at their expense. Let me see the letter before you put it in final order.
