COUNCILMEMBER ABBOTT INTRODUCED THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION:
WHEREAS, Section 5 -217 of the Municipal Code of the City of Blair, provides that the
governing body may by resolution provide for the placing of stop signs or other signs for the
purpose of stopping or regulating traffic on any street or alley within the Municipality's
jurisdiction.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BLAIR, NEBRASKA, that a stop sign shall be placed at the intersection of Sheridan and First
Street for the purpose of stopping traffic on Sheridan Road.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BLAIR, NEBRASKA, that following the passage and publication of this resolution it
shall be unlawful for any person to fail, neglect or refuse to comply with any such stop sign.
COUNCIL MEMBER WOLFF MOVED THAT THE RESOLUTION BE ADOPTED AS
READ, WHICH SAID MOTION WAS SECONDED BY COUNCIL MEMBER STEWART.
UPON ROLL CALL, COUNCIL MEMBERS SHEPARD, STEWART, FANOELE, KEPHART,
CHRISTIANSEN, WOLFF, ABBOTT AND JENSEN VOTING "AYE" AND COUNCIL
MEMBERS NONE VOTING "NAY", THE MAYOR DECLARED THE FOREGOING
RESOLUTION PASSED AND APPROVED THIS 9TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 2010.

Dear Mr. Schoemaker:
Novozymes has begun operation of our blending facility and also the construction of the
production facilities of Novozymes Blair, Inc. located at 600 South 1 Street, Blair,
Nebraska 68008. As a result of our operations and construction activities the traffic along
First Street has increased significantly. Novozymes would like for the City of Blair to
consider street lighting upgrades along First Street from Grant Street to Sheridan Road and
specifically at the intersection of Sheridan Road and First Street. It is extremely dark at
this intersection and the with the increase in traffic it is a safety concern for Novozymes.
Novozymes would also like for the City of Blair to consider placing stop signs at the
intersection of Sheridan Road and First Street as well. Now that Novozymes has opened
the main entrance to our site at the end of First Street, there is now a four way intersection.
In the past First Street dead ended on Sheridan this was a three way intersection. Since the
majority of the traffic flow is along First Street into the main entrance to our site,
Novozymes would like for the City of Blair to consider this as the through fare and install
stop signs on the less travelled directions of Sheridan Road.
