for Cargill Blair Nebraska Refinery MCC Addition Rev NO.1
Dear Mr. Bartels:
The new addition design will be based on the IBC 2006 building code. Below is the
applicable code study and assessment of egress route requirements for the proposed
new MCC room located at the Cargill Blair, Nebraska site and on the 2nd floor of the
Refinery Building. I
Based on IBC 2006 requirements the classification of the building is a
Factory Industrial F-1 Moderate Occupancy Hazard. Based on this
criterion, the new MCC room located on the second floor would need to
have an exit located within 200' of any room egress point. Stairs would
need to be added off of the HVAC balcony to the ground to satisfy this
criterion (IBC 2006 TABLE 1016.1). In fact, a new exit door at column P-
15 from the building and a stair is being added as shown on LN060106.
Based on NEC 110.26 and OSHA 1910.303 requirements, based upon
the voltages of the MCC components being 600 volts or less, and having
2 egress points in the MCC room requires a minimum working clearance
of 4' from MCC front to MCC front and 3.5' from MCC front to grounded
surface (e.g. concrete wall, MCC side panel, etc). If there were only one
egress point then the minimum spacing of electrical components listed
above would double. The minimum width for entry into or egress from the
electrical working spaces described above is 24 inches.
The primary means of egress will be from the southeast door extending from the HVAC
balcony down the new stair platform to the ground. This run is approximately 50 feet and
complies with IBC 2006 requirements. The secondary means of egress will be from the
northwest door on the route west from column line P15 to column line J13 on the 2nd
floor down the flight of steps going east from J13 to Q13. This route is approximately 275
feet. See attached pdfs for the egress map.
BUILDING PERMIT DEPOSIT AGREEMENT
A $500.00 efundable deposit is being collected for any new commercial, new
re idential and any additions, remodels and accessory building valued $10,000 or
grea - t the time of your building permit application.
A $200.00 refundable deposit is being collected for any residential remodel,
addition or accessory building valued under $10,000.
A $50.00 refundable deposit is being collected for all misc. permits.
The City reserves the right to not refund this deposit if any of the following
conditions occur during the construction period:
1) Theft of water service by the plumber, owner or general contractor.
2) All permits have not been obtained.
3) All required inspections have not been obtained.
4) Occupancy occurs prior to a final inspection.
5) The project is completed without a final inspection being done.
6) Storm Water Management Plan inspection not obtained. (If Required)
If any or all of these situations occur during construction, you may forfeit your
deposit.
I hereby agree to the above conditions, and understand that should any or
all of the above situations occur, the building permit deposit SHALL be forfeited or
discounted upon the discretion of the City of Blair, Building and Inspections
Department.
