Minutes, Blair Park Board Meeting
May 13, 2009
Roll Call
Members of the Blair Park Board met at 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, in the City Council Chambers.
Members present: Neil Jensen, president; Ann George, secretary; Jim Peterson, Ardee Pounds. Blair
Parks Department: Pat Long. Members not present: Kathy Kuster, Roger Petersen
Reading and Approval of April 8, 2009, Minutes
Ardee Pounds's motion to approve the April 8 minutes was seconded by Jim Peterson and carried.
Old Business
Discussion of Arbor Dav Celebration at Rideeview Park. April 24. 2009. Members agreed that the Arbor
Day tree-planting at Ridgeview Park by second-grade students attending Deerfield School went very well.
Photos taken by the students' teacher were featured in the Blair newspaper. Neil Jensen circulated a
charming thank-you card made by all of the students. Pat Long reported that the three brass plaques with
the names of the students who had planted the trees were being redone for several reasons, including the
misspelling of a name and the fact that a new student had joined the class shortly before Arbor Day and
after Pat had received the list of class members.
New Business
Next Friends of Arboretum meeting. There was a brief discussion about changing the date of the next
meeting because of schedule conflicts.
Field trip to Deerfield School to observe the playground surface. Board members drove to Blair's new
Deerfield School to see the playground surface and playground equipment. The meeting was adjourned
from there.
The Board will next meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, in the City Hall Chambers. Tentative plans
include a visit to Steyer Park..
