Dear Mr. Jeppesen~
Upon receipt of a complaint to this office, an inspection was conducted
by the Chief of Police and the Building Inspector at the above
described address on .February 3, 1979. The deficiencies noted at this
time were as follows:
1. Sewer pipe leaking in cellar. There was a large pool
of water on a dirt floor.
2. Sewer pipe is leaking over a fuse box.
3. Sink and bathub drains in both apartments leaking on
the floors.
4. No relief valve on the hot water heater.
5. Upstairs apartment has only one exist which is on a
porch that is unsafe.
6. Bricks and mortar:arQuild .:chIimnJ!y":is:..::falliI1g ..apart.
This dwelling has been placarded as unfit for human habitation under
the authority of and in accordance with the 1976 National Building
Code, City of Blair, Nebraska. This structure shall remain vacated
forthwith and not re-occupied until the required repairs and improve-
ments are completed, inspected and approved by the Building Inspector.
The tenants have been notified to vacate the premises within ten
(10) calendar days as of date of receipt of this letter.
Ample time shall be given for the repairs, . demolition or the removal
of said structure. From date of receipt of this letter ninety (90)
calendar days shall be granted.

Health Inspection
At approximately 1600 hI'S the City Duilding Inspectur and I
ins ~cted a two family dwelling at 2123 Washington street. 11he first thing
that is noticed about the house is that the front porch is in very bad
condition and about to falloff of the house.
The follmring items were f01md inside the two apar'trnents.
1. Sewer pipe leaking in the cellar, a large pool of \'fater on the dirt floor.
2. Sewer is leaking over a fuse box.
3, Sink and bath tub drains in both apartments leaking on the floore.
L~. The upstairs apartment has only one exit on the front porch. (Twu
doors, but only one escape route)
The occupant of the upstairs apartment stated that when she drains
her dish water it c c:mes up in her bath tub and takes several hours to drain.
In nw opinion the house is not fit for hwnan habitation and should
be condemned as soon as possible.

Dear Mr. Jeppesen:
The following is a list of deficiencies that were noted during a
re-inspection of the above property:
1. Sewer pipe in cellar is leaking.
2. Stairway entrance to the basement is unsafe and
must be replaced.
3. Kitchen sink drain in upstairs apartment does not drain
properly.
4. Bricks and mortor around chimney is falling apart and
must be replaced.
5. An additional fire exit is required for the upstairs
apartment.
6. Observed extensive termite damage. This should be
inspected by a qualified technician and properly
treated.
7. Front porch must be removed and replaced. The following
deficiencies with the porch were observed:
A. Roof is pulling away from main structure.
B. Pillars are separating and not properly"
supporting the roof.
The property will remain placarded as unfit for human habitation
until the above deficiencies are corrected. The tenants must
vacate the premises by Friday, February 16, 1979.
