Arbor Dav celebration at Stever park The traditional Arbor Day planting went well, in spite of cold _ _
weather, Pat Long reported. Three trees were planted by 21 second grade students at South School: a
Harlequin Maple, a Crimson King Maple, and a Vanderwolf Limber Pine. Each tree has a plaque with the
names of the South School second grade students who helped plant it. Pat Long said that he'd e -mail
photos to the Blair newspaper.

Roll Call
Members of the Blair Park Board met at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, in the City Hall Council Chambers.
Members present: Neil Jensen, president; Kathy Kuster, vice president; Ann George, secretary; Jim
Peterson, Ardee Pounds. Blair Parks Department: Pat Long. Not present: Roger Petersen. Others:

Reading and Approval of April 9, 2008, Minutes
Jim Peterson's motion to approve the April 9 minutes was seconded by Kathy Kuster and carried.
Pat Long noted that the price of the park benches quoted as $800 at the April 9 meeting was now $600.
Approval of Bills
There were no bills needing approval.
New Business
Request v Nathan Kramer for information sign for the dew Nathan Kramer, representing the Blair
Historic Preservation Alliance, presented a proposal for Board approval for a temporary (two- to three -
year) informational sign that the BHPA would purchase and place at the south side of the 1880 railroad
depot that has been moved to Lions Park. Pat Long told those present that Phil Green would like to have
the matter tabled until he could meet with a BHPA representative on "where to go with the depot." Jim
Peterson moved that the Park Board approve the BHPA's request to erect a temporary sign for the
1880 depot in Lions Park, pending a meeting of a BHPA representative with city officials to discuss
their concerns. Kathy Kuster seconded the motion, and the motion was carried.
Next Friends of the Arboretum meeting. This group will meet on Wednesday, May 21, to continue a tree
inventory and mapping for Black Elk - Neihardt Park.
Mulch/wood availability community. After discussion of the non - availability to members of the
community of muulch/woodchips at the community drop -off site, Jim Peterson moved that a portion of
mulch and wood chips from the community drop -off site should be reserved for community -wide
use. Kathy Kuster seconded the motion, which was carried.
Jim Peterson's motion to adjourn was seconded by Ardee Pounds and carried. The Board will next
meet on Wednesday, June 11, at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
