2008-03COUNCIL MEMBER ABBPTT INTRODUCED THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION: WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Blair, Nebraska, has always been dedicated to exercising fiscal responsibility on behalf of the citizens of this community and in furtherance of this objective the City Council is dedicated to allowing maximum public input any time a proposed ordinance is brought before the City Council calling for a new taxing source. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BLAIR, NEBRASKA, that it shall be the general policy and procedure of the current City Council of the City of Blair that when a proposed ordinance is introduced before the Blair City Council concerning a new taxing source the current Blair City Council shall not waive the three (3) mandatory readings of the proposed ordinance on three (3) separate occasions so that notice to the citizens of Blair can be maximized to the extent reasonably possible. COUNCILMEMBER ABBOTT MOVED THAT THE RESOLUTION BE ADOPTED AS READ, WHICH SAID MOTION WAS SECONDED BY COUNCIL MEMBER FANOELE. UPON ROLL CALL, COUNCILMEMBERS SHOTWELL, FANOELE, CHRISTIANSEN, WOLFF, ABBOTT AND BIFFAR VOTING "AYE ", AND COUNCIL MEMBERS STEWART AND SCHEVE VOTING "NAY ", THE MAYOR DECLARED THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION WAS PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 22ND DAY OF JANUARY, 2008.
