Gentlemen:
Subject: Joint Use Occupancy Agreement
CITY Of t)tAIQ-
Mick
Mines, Mayor
The City of Blair received a facsimile of the new Joint Use Occupancy Agreement
for the Washington County Law Enforcement Facility executed by you on April
13, 1999. Under the existing agreement, the City of Blair pays Washington
County about $17,000 a year for office space in the Law Enforcement Facility.
The new agreement presents a substantial increase in cost to the City of Blair,
but without more information, I cannot provide the City Council with a
recommendation upon which they can base a decision on your proposed
contract.
The Blair Police Department exclusively occupies 1009 square feet of office
space, and jointly occupies 753 square feet with the Sheriff. BPD also has use of
the sally port and hallways. If we conclude that BPD should pay for 50% of the
joint space, they would occupy a total of 1,386 square feet (excluding hallways
and sally port). Given these assumptions, the cost per square foot to the City of
Blair is $12.27.
Please respond to the attached list of questions and I will personally
communicate your request to the City Council. I look forward to working with you
on this matter, and feel free to call me at 426-6224 if you have any questions.
Yours very truly,
ichael A. Mines
Mayor of Blair
