The City has received several complaints regarding traffic safety concerns at the
intersection of 18 and Nebraska Streets in reference to the tree coverage and shrubs
located along the northern edge of your property adjacent to Nebraska Street. City staff
has reviewed the pertinent municipal code (see attached) dealing with shrubs and /or other
vegetation growing near the lot line interfering with the use of public right of way.
Staff has determined these trees shrubs and tree growth are safety hazards due to
the obstruction they present for visibility at the intersection of 18 and Nebraska Streets
looking west. Therefore, we request you trim these trees and/or shrubs for the purpose of
public safety on or before October 12, 2007. Please trim the trees that are overhanging
city right of way to a height of 8' and remove the undergrowth in the right of way.
Please contact me if you would like specific clarification regarding the amount of
tree coverage or shrubs needing to be removed. Your property will be re- inspected for
compliance after the above date. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this
matter of public safety.
