Old Business
Discussion of progress of depot at Lions Park Pat Long reported that the depot had been moved to an
interim site at 15 and Nebraska. It will be relocated to its nearby permanent site in Lions Park within one
or two weeks. Volunteers have built a foundation and the Concrete Equipment Co. (Con -E -Co) of Blair is
donating a long beam that will help support the floor of the building.
Discussion on nroeress of Lions Park shelter. Pat said that, before placing the order for the shelter, he plans
to ask the Lions Club for a $1,000 to $2,000 contribution that can be added to the $10,000 budgeted for the
shelter, which has an estimated cost of $11,295. He hopes to build the shelter in July.
New Business
NSA columnar maple, progress on grafting Pat has learned from a representative of the Nebraska
Statewide Arboretum that the Arboretum has a columnar in a clump from which they think they'll be able
to do a graft. Pat said that he asked them to drive to Blair to do a graft from Blair's tree if that graft
doesn't succeed. In either case, he said that he offered to pay for related costs, as well as mileage if a
cutting needs to be done in Blair. The grafted tree would be grown in Lincoln in the NSA nursery.
Friends of the Arboretum meeting date. 5/16/07. An organizational meeting is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday,
May 16, in the City Hall Conference Room.
Report from Arboretum Curator
Neil Jensen said that he wouldn't be able to attend the annual curators' meeting of the Nebraska Statewide
Arboretum on June 1 in Pearce, Nebraska. Kathy Kuster said that she'd attend, and Pat Long said that he
might be able to as well. Neil will call the NSA to make the necessary arrangements.
June meeting
Because Pat Long will be on vacation and there is no urgent pending business, Kathy Kuster made a
motion not to meet in June unless issues arise. Her motion was seconded by Ardee Pounds and
carried. The Park Board's next meeting will therefore be on July 11.
Adjournment
Kathy Kuster's motion to adjourn was seconded by Ardee Pounds and carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Ann George, Secretary
