2003-08Resolution No. 2003-8
Board Member Meyer introduced the following resolution:
Whereas, the Blair Airport Authority Board has received a request to change the traffic pattern at
the Blair Municipal Airport from standard left for both runways (13/31) to a right traffic for
runway 13 south and left for runway 31 north, and
Whereas, the Board has consulted with personnel from both the Nebraska Department of
Aviation and the Federal Aviation Administration concerning safety concerns should the pattern
be changed, and
Whereas, the Board has previously requested all aircraft utilizing the airport to fly to pattern
altitude prior to making any turns, and
Whereas, the Board is undertaking an airport renovation project which will extend the short term
runway southeast approximately 1400 feet and the ultimate run approximately 1950 feet
southeast, thus essentially eliminating aircraft turning and climbing over the subdivisions
currently to the immediate east of the airport, and
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Board Members of the Blair Airport Authority, that the
left/left pattern not be changed, and
Further that, within two years of when the new runway (short term) is completed the Board will
review this resolution concerning left/left traffic pattern to determine the effect of aircraft turning
and climbing over the sub -divisions currently directly east of the airport, and
Further, the Board will renotice all aircraft based at the Blair Municipal Airport as well as
consider putting signage at airport taxiway asking all aircraft to climb to pattern altitude prior to
making any turns.
Board Member Johnson moved that the resolution be adopted as read, which motion was
seconded by Board Member Meyer.
Upon roll call, Board Members Combs, Havekost, Johnson, Meyer and Van Slyke voting "Aye"
and Board Members None voting "nay", the Chairman declared the foregoing resolution passed
and adopted this 151J' day of July, 2003.
