Old Business:
1. In an ongoing effort to find a suitable location for a dog park, the
board viewed photos from the Arlington and Missouri Valley dog
parks. Discussion ensued regarding various locations and the
facilities that will be necessary, i.e., fencing, a double gate system,
a water source, covered shelter with seating and parking. To
provide an area for both large and small dogs 2–3 acres is being
sought. No location has been selected at this time.
2. This year’s Arbor Day Celebration will be held on Thursday, April
th
27 (date changed) at the Hardy RV Park. Arrangements are
being made for grade school students to attend. Each student will
be given a planting to take home; the plantings are donated by the
NRD.
New Business:
1. Julie Ashton from the Washington County Museum was present to
discuss the placement of interpretive signage to be placed at City
Hall, the Railroad Bridge, Lions Park Train Depot, Castetter/
Steyer Park/Pool and the Cemetery. These signs will identify
historic buildings and in the case of the cemetery will highlight
th
early 19 century individuals who left their mark on the community
and are buried at the Blair Cemetery.
The signs will be constructed of graffiti proof metal and printed with
the pertinent information. They will be adhered directly to the
identified buildings or placed on a pedestal in suitable locations.
A motion was made by Betsy Anderson and seconded by Sarah
Boeka to allow the placement of the historic signage at the various
locations. The motion carried.
2. Ms. Berg, President of the Library Foundation, was not in
attendance for an update on the proposed amphitheater; a brief
update on Generations Park was given to board members who
were not in attendance at the February meeting. No action was
taken.
Adjournment: Sarah Boeka’s motion to adjourn the meeting was seconded
by Todd Wick. The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
Respectfully submitted by Betsy Anderson March 18, 2023
