2023-03-08 Blair Park Board Meeting Minutes for March 8, 2023 Call to Order: The Blair Park Board meeting was called to order by President Neil Jensen at 7 p.m. Present: Neil Jensen, Joe Burns, Kristi Rounds, Todd Wick, Sarah Boeka, Betsy Anderson and Park Superintendent Pat Long. Approval of Minutes: The January 11, 2023 Minutes were approved by Joe Burns and seconded by Kristi Rounds. Approval of Bills: No bills were submitted. Old Business: 1. In an ongoing effort to find a suitable location for a dog park, the board viewed photos from the Arlington and Missouri Valley dog parks. Discussion ensued regarding various locations and the facilities that will be necessary, i.e., fencing, a double gate system, a water source, covered shelter with seating and parking. To provide an area for both large and small dogs 2–3 acres is being sought. No location has been selected at this time. 2. This year’s Arbor Day Celebration will be held on Thursday, April th 27 (date changed) at the Hardy RV Park. Arrangements are being made for grade school students to attend. Each student will be given a planting to take home; the plantings are donated by the NRD. New Business: 1. Julie Ashton from the Washington County Museum was present to discuss the placement of interpretive signage to be placed at City Hall, the Railroad Bridge, Lions Park Train Depot, Castetter/ Steyer Park/Pool and the Cemetery. These signs will identify historic buildings and in the case of the cemetery will highlight th early 19 century individuals who left their mark on the community and are buried at the Blair Cemetery. The signs will be constructed of graffiti proof metal and printed with the pertinent information. They will be adhered directly to the identified buildings or placed on a pedestal in suitable locations. A motion was made by Betsy Anderson and seconded by Sarah Boeka to allow the placement of the historic signage at the various locations. The motion carried. 2. Ms. Berg, President of the Library Foundation, was not in attendance for an update on the proposed amphitheater; a brief update on Generations Park was given to board members who were not in attendance at the February meeting.
