doned later when the ralkoad did

farm. where their son now lives,
for $500.The place was on the
old stage coach road from Omaha
to Decatur, and for years the Lip-
plncotta operated it as a hal!-way
house, the stages ehansinz horses
and travelers stopplng for rest.
The tavern was a cottohwood
addition to the log cabin home..
and guest; who stayed all night
climbed a ladder to sleep in the
attic.This old building was used
for years as e woodshed and was
only tom down a few years ago.
Mr. Lippincott recalls as a boy
seeing the Indians, mm their ua-
volse, passing by and even aorne-times earnplng there.Now he sits
at the window of the modern ten-
morn house he built a few years

formal diseussion of topics of in-

residence in Missouri,is visiting

Spellman is at present living in
Ilastinggs,Nob.Since leaving
Blair his health has failed him
and for the past several weeks he
has been in the University hos»
pital.He a-'as released from the
hospital a few days ago and is
spendinp; a few days in Blair be-
fore going to his home in Hast-
ings.While in Blair he called at
The Enterprise office for a brief
visit.and we were very glad to
again meet him.He is a real
gentleman .and while in Blair was
always active in church circles,
always lending his influence tothe cause of right living.He is
still far from being his old self
physically but he feels that he is
on the road to recovery and we
ilies of the young couple.There
were in all about twenty-five
present.These young people are well
known in the vicinity of Blair.
Carla _grew to young; womanhood
here =and attended the public
schools in this city.She is now
employed as bookkeeper for Kemnedy-Parsons Company of Omaha,
at which place she has been for
the past year and a half.William
was born and raised in the Spike;
neighborhood, several miles north
west of Blain.He is a young man
of talents as he played the saxo
phone and clarinet in Jimmy
Pounds' prchestra.During this
time they traveled through thref
states playing at entertainments
He is now farming on his f..ther':

GAS TAX RECEIPTS DROP
A falling off in gas tax receipts
during the first sixteen days of
this month as compared to Nov. 1
to 16, was reported Wednesday of
last week by State Treasurer
Bass.This decrease, amounts to
ss4,22s.c4 for the sixteen day
period and is entirely seasonal.
Cold weather always causes adrop in tax receipts, he said.
The treasurer's record showthat between Nov.1 and 16, the
gas tax amounted to $'l`16,866.15,
while from Dec.1 to 16 it was
$632,63'T.51.For November, 1030.
the full montlfs receipts were
589.108, while the same month
this year brought in $395,185. DB-
cember, 1830, enriched the gas tax
fund by $745,423,approximately
$50,000 less than November of
that year.
