FIRE DEPARTMENTS RESPOND A wi for assistance on Tues- day noon :awed both the Blair and the Kennard fire departments to make a hurried run to thescenc ol conflngratinn on the Helmsing farm about a mile south oi Km- nani.The fire pa rting i n the bam had gotten ii good start be- fo m assistancemrrived and from the barn the fire spread no the hog house, both of which were de- stroyed.The cgm crib dsc caught on fue but was extinguished be~ tore any great damage was done; The origin of the fire is nn- known there being no one about the bam with anything ol an in- flameble nature.The quick me- sponse and the heroic eflort; of the firemen and the lwghbim-1 was all that prevented a dean sweep of the whole set of buildings. Luckily the buildings were well insured. Miss Marion Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.George Nelson, re~ sides west of Blai r in the Rose Hill district where she received the first ten grades of her work. After finishing the ten grades in the Rose Hill school, she came to Blair where she took the last two years work graduating at the head of the class and the young- est in the class. Johns of Widma, Kansas passed away, May 22, 1980 nearly twenty-four yeah of nge. The remains were brought to Blair and funerul services held from the Christian church Monday, May 26, Rev.
