2022-07-13 Blair Park Board Meeting Minutes for July 13, 2022 Call to Order: The Blair Park Board met at Black Elk Neighardt Park and the meeting was called to order by President Neil Jensen at 7 p.m. Present: Neil Jensen, Todd Wick, Sarah Boeka, Joe Burns, Christy Rounds, Betsy Anderson, and Park Superintendent Pat Long. Approval of Minutes: The April 13, 2022 minutes were approved by Sarah Boeka and seconded by Joe Burns. Approval of Bills: No bills were submitted. Old Business: 1. The Nebraska Interscholastic Cycling League thanked the Blair Park Board for use of Black Elk Neihardt Park. Their event was a huge success and they were pleased with the good response and participation from the Blair area. New Business: 1. Kristy Rounds was introduced and welcomed as a new member to the Blair Park Board. 2. A progress update was given on the new “jump line” at Black Elk Neihardt Park.  Brent Fullmer gave the board a tour of the newly constructed jump line. A teenage biker was present to demonstrate the two five foot table top jumps. Mr. Fullmer indicated the bike traffic using the trail system has doubled/perhaps tripled this year. 3. Trees planted at Southern Hills Park.  The trees from this year’s NRD grant were planted at Southern Hills Park with the assistance of the park department employees and the Blair Garden Center. 4. A committee is needed to select the toys and toy colors for the new play equipment at Southern Hills Park.  Volunteers for the committee were Kristy Rounds, Sarah Boeka, and Betsy Anderson. 5. A seminar was held at the Blair Public Library and Technology Center for a new computer program for the cemetery.  A seminar was conducted at the library to familiarize city staff and the genealogy volunteers with the new GIS mapping system for the grave spaces at the cemetery. This computer program is linked to the city web site to be used as an information source for anyone seeking information about those buried at the Blair Cemetery. Representatives from Herman and Kennard were also in attendance. 6. Ridgeview Park Update.  The renovations at Ridgeview Park will be completed this fall. 7. Update on the Pump Track.  Both an oval and a diamond shape track are being considered for the pump track. The city has committed $5,000 from the Trail Fund and an additional $20,000 in donations has already been raised. All funding for this facility will come from donations and grants and will be held by the Washington Community Foundation until needed for construction.
