2022-03-09 Blair Park Board Meeting Minutes for March 9, 2022 Call to Order: The Blair Park Board meeting was called to order by President Neil Jensen at 7:00 p.m. Present: Neil Jensen, Sarah Boeka, Joe Burns, Todd Wick, Betsy Anderson and Park Superintendent Pat Long. Approval of Minutes: The February 8, 2022 minutes were approved by Sarah Boeka and seconded by Todd Wick. Approval of Minutes: No bills were submitted. Enterprise Publishing Volunteer of the Year Award Presentation Greg Forbes from Enterprise Publishing was in attendance to present the Volunteer of the Year Award to Brent Fullmer. Mr. Fullmer was recognized for his vision and the construction of the mountain bike trail at Black Elk Neighardt Park. He was awarded $500 and publically donated this money to further construction and maintenance of the mountain bike trail. His plans call for future construction of a pump track to include additional berms and table tops. In attendance for this presentation were bike trail volunteers Kerry Kremke and Noah Keyes. Old Business: 1. Arbor Day celebration at Rhodes Park at 1:00 on 4-29-2022. This year’s Arbor Day celebration is scheduled for Friday April 29th at 1:00 p.m. and will take place at Rhodes Park. Students from Blair Public Schools will plant a Tulip tree, Magnolia tree and Japanese Lilac tree. In honor of the day each participating student will all be given a seedling shrub to take home and plant. 2. Complied list of trees and bushes that we would like to consider planting at Generations Park. The tree selection subcommittee met and compiled a list of trees to be submitted to the city for planting consideration at Generation Park. New Business: 1. Appoint subcommittee from Park Board to review all received bids from playground companies for playground renovation at Ridge View Park and the new playground at Southern Hills subdivision. The entire board took time to review the submitted bids for Ridge View and Southern Hills Parks. Bids were received from Creative Sites, American Playground and Fry and Associates. The bids will continue to be evaluated and recommendations will be presented to the city council at the March 22, 2022 meeting.
