2021-35RESOLUTION NO. 2021-35 COUNCIMEMBER STEWART INTRODUCED THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION: WHEREAS, Nebraska is experiencing a tight labor market, plus a rising number of staff vacancies, it has caused the need for the city to offer new hiring retention incentives for positions with the Blair Police Department, WHEREAS, these hiring incentives will allow the City of Blair to remain competitive and continue to hire qualified officers, WHEREAS, the attached Exhibit "A" outlines the hiring bonus being proposed to hire and retain new officers, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Blair, Nebraska, that the attached hiring bonus be offered to attract candidates for hire for the Blair Police Department. COUNCIL MEMBER STEWART MOVED THAT THE RESOLUTION BE ADOPTED AS READ, WHICH SAID MOTION WAS SECONDED BY COUNCIL MEMBER SHEPARD. UPON ROLL CALL, COUNCIL MEMBERS SHEPARD, STEWART, RUMP, JENSEN, HALL, WOLFF AND SCHANK VOTING "AYE" AND COUNCIL MEMBERS NONE VOTING `NAY", THE MAYOR DECLARED THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION PASSED AND APPROVED THIS 9TH DAY OF NOVEMBER, 2021.
