Call to Order: The Blair Park Board meeting was called to order by
President Neil Jensen at 7:00 p.m.
Present: Neil Jensen, Sarah Boeka, Joe Burns, Todd Wick, Betsy
Anderson and Park Superintendent Pat Long.
Approval of Minutes: The minutes were approved by Sarah Boeka and
seconded by Todd Wick.
Approval of Bills: No bills were submitted.
Old Business:
1. Discussion of new Generation Park playground items.
The city is preparing to seek bids for the play ground and water
park construction, equipment and toys, the park entrance and the
parking lot. The park will be constructed in phases as funds
become available.
2. Update on Lions Shelter at Steyer Park.
The Harry Ohrt Lions Club shelter renovations at Steyer Park have
been completed. Picnic tables are now in place at the shelter and
bushes have been planted directly behind and above the shelter
retaining wall. Additional sidewalks and another handicap parking
stall will be added in the spring.
New Business:
1. Discussion of possible future improvements for all parks.
In preparation for the creation of a new park at the Southern Hills
Subdivision, the boundaries of proposed park will be surveyed and
trees planted as soon as time and weather permit. It is anticipated
the park will be between 3-6 acres. The plan is to start with a
small park and improve it as “the community” grows.
Renovations will be made to Ridgeview Park. These
improvements will include the purchase of one or two new
bounce toys and one additional piece. The existing climbing
barn, T for 3 swing and an existing bounce toy will continue to
be used. If funds are available a companion swing will be
installed.
The GOATS organization is interested in using Black Elk
Neighardt Park next year for another marathon. The
organization will meet with the city regarding dates and
insurance.
2. The Friends of Arboretum meeting is scheduled November 17,
2021.
Adjournment: Betsy Anderson’s motion to adjourn the meeting was
seconded by Joe Burns. The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
