Blair Park Board Meeting Minutes for February 10, 2021
Call to Order: The Blair Park Board meeting was called to order by
President Neil Jensen at 7:00 p.m.
Present: Neil Jensen, Steve Tonn, Joe Burns, Betsy Anderson and Park
Superintendent Pat Long.
Approval of Minutes: The January 13, 2021 were approved by Steve Tonn
and seconded by Joe Burns.
Approval of Bills: No bills were presented.
Old Business:
Further Review of Park Improvements for 2021 and Beyond
- Proposed Splash Park
Park Superintendent Pat Long presented printed materials
for the board’s review. These materials included examples
of spray park layouts and various spray toys. Also included
were catalogs of playground equipment, shelters, park
benches and trash receptacles. The need for public
bathrooms was also discussed. The board was in
agreement that all facilities (i.e. playground equipment/toys,
splash park features and any shelters) in the park should be
aesthetically coordinated.
- Steyer Shelter
The HGM drawings of the shelter renovations were
reviewed. The improvements included elevation grading,
power instillation to include lighting and electrical outlets,
opening of the rear wall to create improved shelter
ventilation and additional natural lighting and an open air
patio. Additional parking will also be created. Where
possible and in an effort to help offset costs some of the
construction work will be accomplished by the city. These
renovations are scheduled to begin at the end of May.
New Business:
The Friends of the Arboretum are scheduled to meet on February
17, 2021.
Adjournment: Betsy Anderson’s motion to adjourn the meeting was
seconded by Joe Burns. The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
