2020-03-11Blair Park Board Meeting Minutes for March 11, 2020 Call to Order: Blair Park Board President Neil Jensen called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Present: Neil Jensen, Todd Wick, Steve Tonn, Sarah Boeka, Betsy Anderson and Superintendent Pat Long. Approval of Minutes: The February 5, 2020 minutes were approved by Todd Wick and seconded by Steve Tonn. Approval of Bills: No bill presented. Old Business: 1. The Arbor Day tree planting celebration is scheduled to take place at Steyer Park on April 24, 2020 at 1:30. Students from South School will assist in the planting of three trees. 2. Season Updates: • A new 4 wheel drive Chevy pickup truck is being purchased from Sid Dillon. The purchase will include a plow package, Tommy lift, and a snow dog. • Improvements for the Dana Ball Field complex are currently under way. The baseball and softball fields will be opened up and graded. The outfield fence will be moved and electrical work will be accomplished for improved lighting. Reseeding will be necessary in some areas however the infield will continue to be a dirt surface. Bids are being accepted for the rework of the field, fence, etc. • The cemetery is undergoing a spring clean up. This year's paving improvements are expected to be completed by Memorial Day. • If time and finances permit, some work may begin on the "Lion's" shelter at Steyer Park. The shelter is in need of renovations to include the addition of electricity, opening up of the back wall of the shelter to improve air flow, the addition of a patio behind the building and the addition of parking spaces. • Anticipated projects for 2021 include Hardy RV Park, moving the playground from Black Elk Neihardt Park to the Dana Ball Fields, and updating of the Ridgeview playground. New Business: 1. The Friends of the Arboretum meeting date is March 18th, 2020 at the City Hall Council Chambers. Adjournment: Sarah Boeka`s motion to adjourn the meeting was seconded by Todd Wick.
