The property north of the high school and west of the cemetery has been leased from the City of the Blair Youth Complex Board of Trustees. This lease contract was agreed and signed the fall of 1988. Since that time, four softball fields have been created and have provided a site for practices and games for four hundred to four hundred and fifty girls annually. BYSA's volunteer organization has hundred of community people giving of their time, energy, and monies. Each season 5,000+ volunteer hours are given to provide the young ladies of our community with positive recreational activity. Slow -pitch, modified slow pitch and fast pitch softball are played at the Youth Complex. Last summer games needed to be played on the Dana College/City of Blair softball field because of the growing number of teams. The addition of lights on two softball fields has allowed us to play the vast majority of our games this summer at the Youth Complex. If the numbers of girls participating continues to grow, lights on the two remaining fields will be needed in the near future. The facility was used for the following softball activities during the 1997 season, starting with practices in the months of April and May: 1. Modified Softball League Games - 27 teams 2.
