To the Attention of the Blair Keno Committee;
We are requesting funds from the Keno proceeds in Blair to help finance our
softball team expenses for this surmner. The team we are requesting funds for is the
"Blair Cosmics". The "Cosmics" are a fast -pitch softball team, consisting primarily of
the high school softball team. They are playing in the Metro League for the summer of
'97, in the 18 and under division, class "A". The purpose of this is to better prepare there
to become more competitive in the coming high school season. Blair Youth Softball
Association has given our softball players a great foundation for playing softball. The
BYSA league provided slow -pitch, and more recently modified -pitch softball. They have
good defensive skills from this experience. Playing in the Metro area will provide them
with a "crash course" in fast -pitch softball, giving them a more advanced, competitive
experience than what they have experienced previously. This will not only benefit each
softball player individually, but also will improve the quality of Blair's softball in the
future.
Funds are needed for the added expenses of league fees, equipment, uniforms,
and tournament entry fees. We intend to enter as many as 8 tournaments throughout our
season, and this adds to our expenses immensely. Our team budget is $2000. We have
raised approximately $900. in sponsorship money. We are currently in need of 1100
additional dollars.
Please carefully consider the benefit this opportunity will provide to the Girl's
Softball Team in high school, and otherwise in the community. We have fifteen softball
players on this roster, who will represent Blair in a respectful manner in the Metro area
as well as other surrounding communities in which we will play in tournaments.
