2012-07-10 Colton Peterson Memorial Foundation; Basketball Court[COLTON PETERSON MEMORIAL FOUNDATION] a 7/16//2 - May 14, 2012 Blair City Council 218 South 16"' St Blair, NE 68008 Re: Big Red Keno Funds Dear Blair City Council Members, As director of the Colton Peterson Memorial Foundation I'm writing you to ask for assistance in our latest community improvement project. This particular memorial foundation was started 6 years ago with the passing of Colton Peterson and was started as a way to remember a man whose life was taken far too soon and to be able to give back to the youth of our community. Over the past 6 years the Colton Peterson Memorial Foundation has held a memorial golf tournament each summer that raises money for scholarships. These scholarships are given out on a yearly basis to graduating seniors who have exemplified a start determination of excellence in the classroom, on the playing field and also in the community. This summer we will hold a memorial tournament just like we have in each of the past years, however this year we will be striving to not only make a mark in the lives of a select few seniors but also many of the young athletes in the community. This year's community project will be the transformation{ of an old tennis court in to an all hours, lighted basketball court. After speaking with men and women, young and old, I've set out on a mission to create a spot where all kids can go to better their skills and/or just have fun whenever they would like. The basketball court will be between the Blair High School parking lot and the Krantz Football Field. The total cost of the basketball court will be right at $11,500. Items that will need to be purchased will be basketball hoops, lights with timers, benches, paint for the court and the labor cost that will go in to all areas. Thus far I have been able to get monetary commitments in the amount of $8,500. I'm asking you all to consider a one-time allocation of the Keno Funds to the Colton Peterson Memorial Foundation in the amount of $3,000. It is my hope to have the entirety of this project complete by the 2nd weekend of June 2012. Thank you all for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Donnie Wulf Foundation Director 402-650-5229 June 20, 2012 Dear Council Members: 140 South 16th Street P.O. Box A8 Blair.
