Blair Park Board Meeting Minutes for April 10, 2019
The meeting was called to order at 7:05
Present: Neal Jensen, Todd Wick, Joe Burns, Steve Tonn, Betsy Anderson and Parks
Superintendent Pat Long.
Approval of Minutes: The February 13, 2019 Minutes were approved by Todd Wick and
seconded by Joe Burns.
Approval of Bills: No bills presented.
Old Business:
1. Arbor Day Celebration is scheduled for 1:30p.m. April 26 at the Blair Library and
Technology Center. North School teacher Tracy Johnson will be in attendance with her
class. Placards for the trees have been fabricated and will be ready for the presentation.
2. Park Projects:
a. Spring clean up has been accomplished at the cemetery and will soon be
completed at the city pool.
b. Steyer Park will be cleaned and ready for the Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for
Saturday April 20 from 10:00-1:00p.m.
c. The Parks Department has received two grants of $2,500 from the NRD for the
planting of trees. Trees will be planted at the Rich Warrick Memorial Park and
throughout the other city parks.
d. Mayda Jensen has signed the contract for the tile repair work that is to be
accomplished at the Tower of the Four Winds. Repair work will begin as soon as
the weather permits.
e. The resolution of pricing for use of the park Depot and other park shelters is
ready for review by Rod Storm and will then be presented to the City Council at
the last meeting in May.
f. The handicap swing that was previously requested and discussed at the March
meeting is still being reviewed.
New Business:
1. The Friends of the Arboretum meeting is scheduled for April 17, 2019 at 7:00p.m.
Their inventory of park trees is well into its completion.
2. A new grill is being donated by the Lions Club and will be placed by the Depot at
Lions Park.
3. A sink hole appeared at Steyer Park; recent rain and the deterioration of an old
cistern on the property created the sink hole. It has been filled in and will be
reseeded with grass.
Adjournment: Joe Burns’ motion to adjourn the meeting was seconded by Todd Wick. The
meeting adjourned at 8:00p.m.
